stimulated by the relationship of all the colors interweaving in the sky, as well as the intense bolt of lightening; I just
had to draw it. It is pastel and 11x14"

I am Kendra
I create with clay, pencil, pastel and paint
I grew
up near the sea. I never lost my love for it, or the wonderful organic finds I discover there. I am inspired by these forms,
as well as lots of color. I live on an estuary by the water. It is such a huge change from the Boston city life I had survived
for 15 years. It has stimulated and enhanced my work. Our garden grows more beautiful every day with all the flowers Eric
and I plant together. The colors and shapes are a constant inspiration, as well as the way they grow; unwinding layers of
leaf, bud, color, then flower.
I love hearing the birds, and other wildlife that surrounds us. It makes me smile inside
and out.
We also live with our two beautiful boy cats, Sid and Pickles, our black cat Serafina, Shellie the swimming
turtle, tons of goldfish,
a beautiful albino corn snake Popcorn, as well as Sam and Golum, our firebellie toads.
This is a very cool place to live.
I am a graduate of Massachusetts College of Art, as well as Aquinas College. For
many years, I taught children in the school system of Brookline, Massachusetts, until I moved to Wareham, where I now live
with my childhood sweetheart. We reunited after 15 years of separate lives, and I am the happiest I've ever been. I always
knew he was the one, and got that second chance. I love that story.
While in Boston, I was involved in several cooperative
studios, until my landlord of my apartment allowed me to set up in the basement. It was gloomy, but my own. My studio now
has an 8 foot window that looks out into our rock garden front yard, with the frog pond Eric built, the river just beyond
it. The sun sets on the water in front of my window. Another gorgeous inspiration.
For years I was the assistant technician
to the Clay Tech at Massart, after I graduated two years prior. I couldn't leave there for a very long time. I love critique,
interaction; and I adore the amazing kilns they have there. Five large Bailey gas kilns, one Raku. I was responsible for rebuilding
and maintaining these kilns, organizing and managing studio materials and facilities, as well as assisting the students. This
was an exceptional experience that I will never forget.
I have participated in a large number of regional shows, auctions,
and fairs throughout my years as a professional artist. I have won numerous awards, and galleries as far as California have
exhibited my sculptural clay work, as well as my pencil drawings. Being an artist allows me to expand out of the box others
rely on. I get to see the world in a completely different perspective, and I really enjoy that.
